Risk protection

Set per-receiver loss and profit limits that act automatically: close the copier's positions, stop the copier, or both.

Protection enforces loss and profit limits per receiver, automatically. You set them on the receiver's Protection tab, and the copier acts on them before a mistake becomes a larger loss.

The Protection tab — Daily Protection expanded, with Overall Protection and Max Open Positions below it.

The tab has three sections you expand to configure: Daily Protection, Overall Protection, and Max Open Positions. Each loss or profit limit has its own on/off switch and is set as a percentage (%) or a dollar amount ($).

Daily Protection

Caps how much a receiver can lose or gain in one day. The day's result counts trades closed that day plus the profit or loss on positions that are still open. A percentage is taken from the receiver's current equity.

  • Daily Loss — example: 5% on a receiver with $10,000 equity triggers when the day's result reaches −$500.

  • Daily Profit — example: $1,000 triggers when the day's result reaches +$1,000.

  • Timezone Basis — the day's totals reset at 00:00 UTC. The timezone picker on the tab doesn't change the reset time.

Daily limits have no action menu of their own. When Daily Loss is reached, Trada takes the action set on Max Account Loss; when Daily Profit is reached, it takes the action set on Max Account Profit. This holds even when the overall limit itself is switched off, so check that action whenever you use a daily limit.

Overall Protection

Caps the receiver's total loss or profit, measured from its starting equity. Set each limit as a percentage or a dollar amount, and pick the Action it triggers.

  • Max Account Loss — example: 20% of a $5,000 start triggers if equity falls to $4,000.

  • Max Account Profit — example: $2,000 triggers when equity reaches $7,000 from a $5,000 start.

Max Open Positions

Caps how many positions can be open on this receiver at once. When the cap is reached, new sender trades aren't copied to this receiver until a position closes, and the copier logs record each skipped trade. 0 means no limit, and is the default.

Automated actions

Each overall limit has an Action menu. When the limit is reached, Trada does what you picked:

Action
What it does

Close losing positions (on Max Account Loss) or Close winning positions (on Max Account Profit)

Closes positions this copier opened on the receiver. The copier keeps running.

Close all positions

Closes every position this copier opened on the receiver. The copier keeps running.

Stop copying

Pauses the whole copier, for every receiver — not only the one that hit the limit. Open positions stay open.

Close all & stop

Closes the positions this copier opened on the receiver, then pauses the whole copier.

A new receiver starts with Close losing positions and Close winning positions selected. The closing actions only touch positions this copier opened on the receiver: trades you placed yourself, or copied there by another copier, stay open. A paused copier doesn't restart on its own — see Copier states & lifecycle.

Protection alerts are delivered in the app (the bell in the top navigation and the Notifications page). They are not emailed, and there are no push notifications.

How it fits together

Say a receiver has Daily Loss at 5% and Max Account Loss at 10%, with the action Close all & stop. The moment the day's result reaches −5%:

  1. Trada closes the positions this copier opened on the receiver.

  2. The whole copier is paused, for all of its receivers.

  3. A Protection Triggered entry appears in the copier logs with the result and the limit — for example, Your daily loss protection limit was reached - -520.00 against a limit of -500.00.

Trada is software; you retain responsibility for your trading and for your accounts' limits.
