# Glossary

Definitions of the terms used across Trada.

Plain definitions for the terms you'll meet across Trada, the trade-copier and journaling software. Terms are grouped by area — use your browser's find to jump to one.

## Connecting accounts

**Account** — A single trading account you've connected from one supported platform. One connection equals one account. Forex/CFD accounts are flat (one login, one account); Futures connections are nested, where one login can expose several trading accounts, each with its own **Enable** toggle. Only enabled accounts count toward your plan. Trada uses the label "Accounts", not "Connections".

**Credential set** — The stored platform credentials — OAuth tokens or API keys — that authorize a connection. You manage these at **Credential Sets** before attaching them to an account. cTrader uses secure sign-in (OAuth); other platforms use API keys.

**Supported platforms** — The nine platforms Trada connects to: Forex/CFD — **MetaTrader 4**, **MetaTrader 5**, **cTrader**, **TradeLocker**, **DXTrade**, **MatchTrader**; Futures — **NinjaTrader**, **Rithmic**, **DXFeed**.

**Partner account** — An account held with one of Trada's partnered prop firms or brokers. Partner accounts are exempt from plan account limits and can qualify you for Free Starter.

{% hint style="info" %}
The partner list is expanding. An account only earns the partner badge once its firm or broker is signed.
{% endhint %}

## Copying trades

**Copier** — A mapping that links one Sender to one or more Receivers, plus shared rules — name, working hours, symbol filters, and symbol mapping. Each copier handles a single market type, Forex or Futures, never mixed. A copier is either **Active** or **Paused**.

**Sender** — The master account in a copier. Its trades are the source that Receivers replicate. There is one Sender per copier.

**Receiver** — A follower account in a copier. Each Receiver carries its own lot sizing, stop-loss/take-profit handling, and protection settings. A copier can hold many Receivers.

**Copy direction** — The per-Receiver setting for which sides to replicate: **Both**, **Buy Only**, or **Sell Only**.

**Lot-sizing modes** — The five ways a Receiver's trade size is derived from the Sender's:

| Mode | How the size is set |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Lot Multiplier**     | Receiver lot = Sender lot × a multiplier                                                                       |
| **Fixed Lot Size** | The same lot on every trade |
| **Balance Multiplier** | Scaled by (Receiver balance ÷ Sender balance) |
| **Equity Multiplier** | Scaled the same way, using current equity instead of balance |
| **Fixed % Risk** | Lot derived from a percentage of the account at the stop-loss distance; requires the Sender to have a stop set |

**SL/TP modes** — How a Receiver treats the Sender's Stop Loss and Take Profit. Each is toggled independently and has three modes:

| Mode          | Behavior                                                                 |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Inherited** | Copy the exact price from the Sender |
| **Fixed** | Use a fixed distance (pips for Forex, ticks for Futures) |
| **Refined** | Take the Sender's distance, then increase or decrease it by a set amount |

**Reverse Positions** — An advanced Receiver option that mirrors trades in the opposite direction. It is automatically disabled for prop-firm accounts.

## Managing risk

**Protection** — Configurable thresholds and automated actions that fire when a Receiver reaches a defined loss or profit level. Protection is split into Daily and Overall.

**Daily Protection** — Daily Loss and/or Daily Profit thresholds, set in **%** or **$**. Resets at 00:00 UTC.

**Overall Protection** — Max Account Loss and/or Max Account Profit thresholds, measured from the balance recorded when the Receiver was added.

**Protection action** — What happens when a threshold is hit: **Send Notification**, **Stop Copier**, or **Flatten Account**. Every enabled action fires together.

**Flatten** — Close all open positions on an account at once.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Flattening closes live positions immediately and cannot be undone. Deleting a copier or removing a Receiver does **not** flatten open trades — you close those yourself.
{% endhint %}

**Working hours** — A per-copier schedule of time blocks that limits when trades are allowed to copy. Optionally auto-closes positions when a block ends.

**Symbol filters** — A per-copier whitelist or blacklist that limits which instruments the copier will copy.

**Symbol mapping** — A per-Receiver translation between instrument names that differ across brokers — for example, **XAUUSD ↔ GOLD**. Managed at **Map Symbols**.

## Journaling and strategies

**Journal** — Where every closed trade from your connected accounts appears automatically. Execution data — prices, P\&L, timestamps — is read-only; you add a rating, emotional state, notes, strategy, and setup type. There is no manual trade entry.

**Period journal** — Daily, weekly, and monthly roll-ups of your trades, each with stat cards, an equity curve, and rich-text reflection notes.

**Group Journaling** — Bulk-copies your annotations from one trade onto multiple similar trades, with a 10-second undo.

**Strategy** — A named setup with execution and risk settings plus checklists. Its metrics compute automatically from the trades linked to it. Available on Starter and above.

## Reviewing performance

**Reports** — Aggregated analytics across your accounts: KPI cards, distribution charts, and breakdowns by time and instrument. The **Overview** tab is available to everyone; deeper tabs are on paid plans.

**Balance** — Account cash balance. Refreshes on page load.

**Equity** — Balance plus Open P\&L. Updates in real time.

**Open P\&L** — Unrealized profit or loss on your currently open positions. Updates in real time.

**Trading Health Score** — A single 0–100 score (shown on the Reports radar and also called the Health Score) that averages six normalized sub-scores: max drawdown, profit factor, win rate, reward-to-risk, expectancy quality, and winning days. It summarizes trading discipline against those measures — it is not a forecast of future results. See [Formulas](/reference/formulas.md) for how each sub-score is computed.

## Sharing performance

**Public report link** — A read-only link to a snapshot of your report. It shows the data as of the moment it was generated and does not update as new trades come in.

**Certificate** — A read-only link that renders a live summary of a trade, period, report, or copier for sharing. Certificates are links rendered in the browser, not files.

**Certificate name** — The display name you choose to show on your certificates — **Full Name**, **First Name**, or **Nickname**. Set it on your profile.

{% hint style="info" %}
Certificates and public reports are shared as read-only links rendered live in the browser. There is no downloadable file.
{% endhint %}

## Plans and billing

**Free Starter** — A 30-day, auto-renewing grant of Starter-tier features at no cost, unlocked by connecting a qualifying partner account: a prop-firm account of **$50K+** from a partnered firm, or a brokerage account of **$500+** with active trading from a partnered broker. It renews while the criteria stay met.

**Notifications** — In-app messages across five categories — Copiers, Accounts, Deals, Errors, and System — surfaced on the notifications page and the top-nav bell.

{% hint style="info" %}
Notifications are in-app only; Trada does not send email or push notifications. All amounts are in **USD**. Subscription cancellation is not self-service — contact support.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.trada.io/reference/glossary.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
